Fuerteventura with kids

3 weeks ago we flew to Fuerteventura to celebrate our birthdays. We rented a car for 4 days and were wandering around the island visiting beaches and small towns.

Is trip to Fuerteventura with kids a good idea? Yes, it is the most family friendly of the Canary Islands. Sunny, but also very windy, the average temperature is 22 degrees. The sea and pools are still too cold for a swim, but it is still a nice trip away to escape the winter.

How much cost a trip to Canary Islands? Our budget was:

Ryanair flight £70 return per person ( hand luggage only )

accommodation: free 2 nights via couchsurfing; Fuertesol bungalows at Caleta de Fuste €25 per night

Car rental: Cabrera Medina, €84/ 4 days

plus petrol, ice-creams etc

Beautiful views. I am scared of flying but this was one of my easiest flights.

What to do in Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is not very green, we could only see a few palm trees. There was some greenery near La Lajita ( where Oasis park is located ) and Costa Calma only.

Ca rental is necessary unless someone likes sitting on one beach all holiday. I haven’t been driving for last 3 years and found the road to Cofete a bit scary. This location is amazing but you need to be a confident driver to get there.

I hope to go back to Fuerte one day because there is a lot to explore.
