Trip to Madrid with kids
It’s time to write a bit about leaving for our big trip. We got up at 5am to catch a flight to Madrid before leaving for South America. We flew with Easyjet, and light to Madrid cost us £55 per person one way.
It was sunny when we arrived and after finding metro station, we went to the Pacifico where our couch surfing host was waiting for us.
The apartment was tiny and very dark so always cold and I never knew what was the weather like. However Jorge was a great host and he gave us his own bedroom while he and his girlfriend Sharon slept on the sofa.
V was a bit shy at the beginning but soon became friends with our hosts. As you can see she was allowed to draw on the table, which was transformed into a wall painting later.
Good couchsurfing manners, doing dishes after the lunch!
We went out for a walk to visit the biggest park in Madrid – Parque del Retiro. It consists of 120 hectares and can be accessed by one of 18 entrances. It is most visited park in the city, and there is even a lake where you can hire a boat. It must be great place to visit in the Summer. It was cold that day but the park was full of skateboarders, cyclists, families with kids and tourists.
Jorge works as a programmer but he is a magician by passion and his magic skills are awesome.
That day there was a strike in the city, so it was full of people.
Best churros in Madrid
The next morning we went to visit the flea market. El Rastro takes places every Sunday between 9am and 3pm and is located between Calle Embajadores i Ronda de Toledo. We went there by metro.
We had to try churros too, popular Spanish snack made of finger shaped dough. It tastes best served with hot chocolate. Jorge took us to his favourite chocolateria with best churros in Madrid San Gines ( Pasadizo San Ginés, 11 ).
We also visited the main square Plaza Mayor, and Puerta del Sol . While visiting Madrid was nice, more than sightseeing I appreciated the company we had. It is always better to explore cities with local people. Especially if you are visiting Madrid with kids!
I also took a few photos with my film camera, I will post them once I receive the scans 🙂
Nareszcie będzie można poczytać o Waszych wspaniałych podróżach. Absolutnie dodaję do ulubionych w wolnej chwili zasiadam do lektury 🙂 Dzięki i pozdrawiamy.
